INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP ENCOUNTER FOR LEADERS AND PRINCIPALS, COORDINATORS OF JEWISH EDUCATION

CANCUN, MEXICO MAY 2022

BEYACHAD

We are living in unprecedented times. A new reality has emerged overnight. The processes did not wait for their natural course, accelerating intensely.

The Jewish communities reacted (and continue to react) in the best possible way: mobilizing all their resources and goodwill, working around the clock to support and provide the necessary services. To be sure, the challenges are daunting: a sharp decline in income, challenged core principles and values, a crisis of leadership and, most importantly, a change in the views and beliefs of our members, school parents, youth….

The world as we knew it no longer exists.

We all ask ourselves: What does the future hold?  We know that a crisis can become an opportunity. Now more than ever is the time to re-imagine our future and take a proactive approach.

The Zionist Entrepreneurship Department and its Ain le Tzion movement, the Education Department and the Hebrew and Culture Department of the Zionist Organization, in conjunction with UnitEd and the Herzog Institute of the Ministry of Diasporas of the State of Israel, are organizing a Gathering to inspire, imagine the future and motivate each other, in this new reality.

How are 21st century Jewish schools different today?

What role does change play?

What is your role as an educational leader?

What is the value of a Continental Gathering?

“There are limits to people’s imagination.” (Sharon Feiman-Nemser). Observing or listening to the experiences of others presents us with the opportunity to expand our imagination of what is possible, learn about new possibilities, and initiate new conversations and reflections. (Susie Tanchel). Learning from shared experiences allows us to recognize what works well, explain why, what we can learn from it and how we translate it into our own realities.

This face-to-face meeting will allow us to know what is happening in other places, the changes promoted by leaders and their work teams, the values that determine the identity of the institutions and the changes aligned to these that are proper and maintain the school culture and, finally, to recognize the value of regional cooperation for the continuous improvement of Jewish education in LATAM.

    • Authorities and volunteers of the schools’ boards of trustees.
    • General Directors of the Schools
    • Coordinators of the Jewish Education Area of the Schools

  • OBJECTIVES OF THE BEYAJAD MEETING

To build and establish links and communication bridges for cooperation among the educational leadership of the continent, forming a consultation and support group.

To have the opportunity to discuss common educational challenges in order to enrich and inspire each other and open our vision for future decision making.

To build and establish links and communication bridges for cooperation between the educational leadership of the continent and Israeli organizations that strengthen the Jewish-Zionist educational processes in Latin American schools.
